Manitoulin Cedar Products is a family owned company. Founded in 2001 it is located in Kagawong, Ontario, on Manitoulin, the world’s largest freshwater island.
Our goal is to provide quality products and services, utilizing as many high quality Ontario manufactured products as possible. We are also an environment sensitive operation, adjusting our practices and policies to lower our carbon footprint.
All our White Pine and White Cedar is cut locally on the island to reduce shipping requirements. After sawing, our lumber is dried in a 1500 ft solar air kiln. This dries the wood using natural heat and air flow not electricity. It is a much slower process than an electric kiln, but has zero impact on the environment. Our wood byproduct is used in the manufacture of fish based compost material and heating fuel, so no waste is sent to the local landfill. Our 3500 sq. ft store is also not on the Ontario Hydro grid. Power for the store is provided by solar and wind generators and stored in a battery bank.
